Topu Khan is one of the most talented and popular filmmakers of recent times, a trusted name among viewers in the Bengali entertainment industry. Today, he is regarded as one of the few strong filmmakers among drama directors. Audiences are fascinated by his storytelling, and his consistent ability to connect with viewers is why he remains a favorite of the era.
Known professionally as Topu Khan, his full name is Sadruddin Topu Khan. He was born on 16 January in Mirpur, Dhaka. His father is heroic freedom fighter Md. Nasiruddin Khan (retired government officer) and his mother is Anisa Khan. The youngest in the family, he grew up in Mirpur and also spent a few years in Savar.
He dreamed of becoming a filmmaker from a young age and has been involved in production since 2006. He made numerous short films and sought mentorship from industry professionals, starting as assistant director to Saifur Rubel, then working for a long time with director/cinematographer Niaz Mahbub, and later getting acquainted with Tanvir Hossain Prabal.
He completed a BBA and a Film Appreciation course as part of his formal education. He entered the media industry as an assistant director under Tanvir Hossain Prabal and directed over 50 episodes of the Oyer Golpo series as an episode director. In 2015, he directed the popular single drama Creative Loker Caught Marriage starring Mosharraf Karim and Arpana Ghosh, which aired on Banglavision on 13 September. From there, his career continued to rise with numerous popular dramas.
Beyond directing, he writes plays and screenplays. He married Razia Khan on December 26, 2012, and they have one daughter, Wajiha Farzin Khan.
